The Challenge Shield was held recentlyat The Belfry Golf Club.

The event was sponsored by the Captains cousin, Aki Toumazos of Sikka Restaurant in East Finchley.

The Belfry is a prestigious golf club having hosted the Ryder Cup in 1985, 1989, 1993 and 2001.

A full house of 48 members made the 2 hour journey towards Birmingham to compete on the championship Brabazon Golf Course (ranked in the top 100 in UK and Ireland). The conditions were perfect for golf, sunny and not too windy, and Captain George Vavs Georgiou has so far been blessed with perfect weather on all the CGS events.

The winner was young Michael Kyriakou playing off a 4 handicap with and impressive 36 points.

Runner up was Andy Georgiou playing off 10 with 32 points, and in third place, Bako Karantoni playing off 8 with 31 points. The difficulty of the course was reflected in the lower handicappers winning the day

Best Gross Score went to Michael Kyriakou with 76.

Best Senior was won by Chris Georgiou with 31 points.

Nearest to the Pin was Chris Georgiou

Best Team was Michael Kyriakou, Liam McKiernan, Savva Savva and Michael Tryphonides.

Booby Prize was achieved by Louis Tsioupra.
