Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a house in Brandesbury Square in Woodford Green.

Most of the ground floor, half of the first floor and half of the second floor of the town house was damaged by fire. The fire also destroyed the staircase from ground to first floor and first floor to second floor level.

One person left the property before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries. 

The Brigade was called at 1338 and the fire was under control at 1543. Fire crews from Ilford, Woodford, Chingford, Tottenham and Leyton fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
