Apollon moved two points clear of Apoel after defeating their arch rivals AEL in what eventually turned out to be a one sided affair by 3-0. From the outset it was Apollon who fired the first warning shots and it did not take them long to take advantage of their superiority with Esteban Sachetti giving them the lead after 22 minutes. Apollon continued to be the better side and doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime through their defender Roberge who headed past AEL’s goalkeeper Prozek following a Pedro corner.

The same player added a third tweleve minutes from the end to dispel any lingering doubts as to which team would pick up the three points. Apollon have won both their playoff games so far without conceding while AEL have yet to pick up a point or find the back of the net.
