The Saints top the Premier Division

Middlesex County Football League

Lampton Park 2 St Panteleimon 5

(Albadri 3, Tajbakhsh, Nasai)
Rectory Park
(HT 1-3)

St Panteleimon put in a characteristically steely and skilful performance against Lampton Park away, in Ruislip.

Lampton took the lead very early, 3 minutes in, and this spurred the Saints to start playing the ball around and take control. A compelling and telepathic relationship between Courtney Massay and Ayub Albadri developed with two goals made by Massay and scored by Albadri. 1-2. Massay’s mazy runs and quick feet created space on the line, then a quick cross gave Albadri the openings to score.

A third was added before half time by Noyan Tajbakhsh with a strong shot, deflected and in.

In the second half, Albadri got his hat-trick on 52 minutes. Again created by Massay. 1-4 to The Saints.

Lampton played the ball around also and created some chances. A penalty gave them one more to make it 2-4.

Some late drama then came with a cracking goal by Aristotellis Nasai made it 2-5, to give the Saints the 3 points needed to go top of the league, and +3 goal difference to take them to +48 GD after 14 games.

The referee gave Lampton Park two red cards in quick succession in what could only be for dissent and unsporting behaviour.

The Saints march on. Unbeaten in 14 with 13 wins and a draw.

Next week the Saints are at home to South Kilburn, in Greenford, weather permitting.
