Komi Kebir FC Win A Thriller

First Division

A great match between Komi Kebir FC & Omonia which ended 4-3 to Komi Kebir . Komi started very well and raced to a two  goal lead through Peter Vassiliou and George Demosthous.. A lapse from Komi at a corner saw Fodi Christodoulou pull a goal back from a corner. 2-1 at half time. Komi got a 3rd from George Demosthenous  again and the game seemed over. However, The second half became a reversal of the first with Omonia on top and Harry Phillipou pulling the strings in midfield. Harry hit a screamer from 30 yards which Ari in the Komi goal got his fingertips to but couldn’t keep it out. Minutes later – one of Omonia’s young stars Kyri Georgiou scored an unstoppable goal from 20yards and it was 3-3. A tense 20mins followed and Komi  Kebir with a final flourish came back to win the game with a winner on the 86th minute from George Demosthenous  who combined well with Antony to finish after the keeper had made a good stop from his first shot.

Anorthosis v Olympia game was abandoned late in the first half with Anorthosis winning 1-0 when one of their player’s Danny Coolridge suffered a serious injury and the emergency services had to be called.

Apoel beat bottom of the table Achna 9-3 but fatigue set in for Achna who held Apoel at 3-2 half time but allowed Apoel to score six goals in the second half. Apoel’s goals came from Alex Michaelides 2, Michael Spencer 2, Marcos Kyprianou 2, George Lutaya 2 and Luke Lane penalty. Achna goals came from Tony Ponnou 2 and Jamie.

 

Second Division

What a start from Panathinaikos beating Akanthou 4-1 it began with one of the quickest goals ever in the league after 30 seconds when their  left back Andrew Polydorou, who intercepted a pass from kick off and burst down the left unleashing a spectacular shot which hit the far post and in.1-0 Panathinaikos after 30seconds. On the half hour  Pao broke away with pace and precise passing Dylan found Andrew Yiasoumi at the far post to tap to go into the break 2-0 up.

Second half started with Akanthou flying out of the blocks and scoring within a minute of the start .

Pao the made a few changes and put on some fresh legs which turned the game into their favour. Andrew Yiasoumi scored Paos 3rd to settle the home team and then a great move from Errol with some good footwork allowed him to pull the ball back to Anthony Constantinou who scored to put the game beyond Akanthou.

Armenian Youth had a good day out beating Pantel 6-0 it puts the Armenians into the promotion race with Cinar, KLN and Panthinaikos. Their goalscorers were Andy Michael 2, Garo Heath 2, Gui Garcia and  Norayr  Djerrahian.
