With the combination of cold weather and central heating on full blast, you may very well find that your skin may be in need of a little TLC. So step up your skin routine a notch in order to make it beautifully soft.

When the skin is hydrated, it will look more youthful as it appears plumped, with less shriveled wrinkling. It doesn’t take that much work to keep it in order; just a little prior planning and then putting into place a daily routine.

Always start by using a moisturising shower gel that is PH skin friendly. The skin is around 5.5 on the PH scale and it should be kept that way in order to keep it healthy and displacing it out of that state. If it is thrown out of its natural state and becomes too alkaline or acidic, the mantle is disturbed and can cause skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and rosacea.

Some gentle brands like Sante and Simple can be gentle and kind enough.

Use a shower gel with a little, gentle exfoliating. Use an exfoliating glove as you have your shower, don’t scrub in an abrasive manner, just alight circular motion should be enough. You can simply add a little sugar or granular honey to your shower gel or a gentle salt oil conditioning scrub on a weekly basis. Avoid wearing your best clothing straight after as it may stain your clothing.

Next apply a good moisturising lotion, cream or body butter. A little thicker and richer cream is needed in the winter as the cream is rapidly absorbed. As tempting as it may be, your perfume matching body cream or lotion often may not be rich enough, so mix it up with a richer and more hydrating and kind to skin cream.

Use creams that contain ceramics and hyaluronic acids that will replicate the skin’s natural structure. A few good moisture creams include Vaseline intensive cream, Nivea, Champneys body butter, or for those that need serious help for their skin, E45 and Aveeno are great.

Don’t forget there are the natural options also like using 100% coconut oil melted down or 100% Aloe Vera gel which is ideal if you are worried about ruining your clothing with the oils.

Face and hands will need even more hydrating as these are the skin areas that are exposed to the air constantly. Keep some moisturising cream with you at all times so that you can top up regularly throughout the day. A moisturising mist is also very good; you can carry this and give a little quick spritz on the skin.

Make your own Salt Scrub:

1 part unrefined granular sea salt

2 parts sunflower or olive oil

Put the salt in a tub and pour over the oil to cover. The oil should layer over by a third. Keep in an airtight container and use every week.

Facial Moisturising Mist recipe:

1 part Aloe Vera plant (1 large piece)

3 parts Rosewater

1 part Glycerine

5 parts distilled water

1 vitamin E oil from capsule

Scoop and mash the Aloe from plant. Place in a sterilized small spray bottle. Add the remaining ingredients to the bottle, apply cap spray and lid and shake well before using.

Stay soft and beautiful!

Love and sparkles
