AEK U10 v Omonia Silver U10.

A tough, competitive game saw a goalless first half with the second full of action with both teams playing some good football. AEK went ahead midway through the half with a Luca strike which prompted Omonia to push forward. They got their reward with a fine equaliser before Luca grabbed his second following on from some great approach play by Deen.Overall a good AEK team performance and a special mention to Luca for taking his goals well and showing great footwork throughout the match. MOM Nathan who worked hard throughout showing good quality on the ball.

U16 Black who ended up losing 4-1 to Whetstone. Scoreline does not reflect a game that was tight and 1-1 with 15 mins to go but after they took the lead 2-1 with a fantastic strike we then gifted them two goals with very basic errors. Real shame but as I said to the boys at the end, you either now dwell on the mistakes and go into a downward spiral, or you reflect on them in the coming days and think about how you can do something different in the next game. We shall see as our next game is against the league leaders ! At least the sun was shining today ?

U16’s Gold team Spring Plate Group D game result. AEK Youth Gold Team FC 3 – 6 Belstone FC Team. After a week off this match was the third WFL Spring Plate cup game involving a team in our division. Despite the opposing team only having 9 players we seems to have entered into an episode of Dr Who with the team transported back 6 months to their first game. They failed to take advantage of the situation and allowed the opposing team to dominate from the start which resulted in conceding a goal after 10 minutes. This normally would have sparked the team into life but frustratingly this was not the case and they continued to look like a team that had not ever played together. Against the run of play we managed to score an equaliser only for the other team to get another one shortly afterwards. The team started to eventually put some passes together and Eneo managed to score a very clever free kick before half time. Having made some key changes at half time this failed to have the desired effect and the opposing team continued to dominate and continuously hit us on the break which resulted in some calamitous goals being conceded. More changes were made with a change to three at the back to create more opportunities and stretch the game. Sadly this had little effect and the team were well and truly beaten by a very hard working and resolute team of 9 players. Scorers: Alexander Barbe and Cristiano Pelentis. MOM: Eneo Filaj
