Police are appealing for information one month after the death of a man in Barnet.

Officers were called at around 07:15hrs on Friday, 21 September after the body of a man was found outside the back of a takeaway on Finchley Road in Barnet.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Thursday, 11 October and the cause of death given as a head injury.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Despite extensive enquiries, police have been unable to identify the man and have now released images of his last movements in the hope someone who knows him will come forward.

The victim is thought to have been Eastern European, of slim build and had short cropped hair.

It is believed he was aged between 30 and 40, and may have been homeless.

CCTV obtained from nearby premises shows the victim walking down an alleyway from the direction of Rodborough Road towards Hodford Road at around on 22:00hrs on Thursday, 20 September.

Around four minutes later, he is captured walking back in the opposite direction and appears to be staggering before sitting down against a wall where he was discovered the next morning.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have passed or spoken to the victim that evening to contact them with any information that could help their investigation.

Detective Constable Fred Itiose, from Barnet CID, said:“We are keen to establish not only who the victim is but also the course of events leading to his death on Thursday, 20 September.

“We know a number of people were in the area at the same time and may have spoken to the victim in his final hours. We urge anyone with information to speak to us by calling 020 8733 4125.”
