The crisis in education, which the government provoked and perpetuates by its unilateral decisions, has highlighted some characteristics of the Anastasiades-DISY government.

What are these characteristics?

  1. The government is characterized by arrogance and authoritarianism. It wants to decide and issue orders bypassing the institutionalized dialogue with the involved parties.
  2. The government is denigrating and defaming, and sometimes insulting teachers. This is what it is doing continuously. It has been doing so very adamantly in recent days with statements made from both on the part of the government, but also DISY and its President.
  3. The government, with the defamation of teachers, is trying to turn other groups of working people and society in general against them. The Anastasiades-DISY government, when it wants to achieve anti-labour goal, is trying to turn one group of working people against the other.
  4. Within the context of the widespread deregulation of labour relations that this government has been seeking to impose for years, it is now promoting strike breakers and scabs, as well the criminalization of the right to strike.

It is obvious that will all that the Anastasiades-DISY government is doing, it is taking Cyprus many years back in times resembling the middle ages.
