All the given facts and information surrounding the Cyprus problem confirm that the opportunity to make use of the historic, according to the UN Secretary-General, opportunity for an overall solution of the Cyprus problem, which would rid our country of the shackles and dangers of occupation and will reunite our homeland and people has not expired. Of course, Turkey’s occupying role was and remains decisive towards this end.

However, the Greek Cypriot side’s handling to make use of the existing possibilities and dynamics that have been created are of crucial importance, so that we can reach a solution that will liberate us from guarantees, intervention rights and the occupying troops; a solution which will restore sovereignty, the independence and territorial integrity of Cyprus. Faced with the UN Secretary-General’s new initiative, through his Special Envoy on Cyprus Mrs. Lute, we hope and wish that this time, President Anastasiades’ actions will prove to be beneficial to the country.
