Letchworth Garden City Eagles 2 – New Salamis 2

A top of the table clash for Salamina today. They boys raced into an early 7th minute lead. Leon Fisher raced through Letchworth’s midfield and found Harrison Georgiou, Harrison took one touch moved the ball to his right and bent the ball passed the defender and the outstretched hand of the keeper 1-0 to Salamina.

The rest of the half saw both teams committed to the game, tackles, blocks and determination from both. Half time 1-0

The second half saw Letchworth come out on top for the first 5-10 minutes but Salamina found their way forward, and were to go 2-0 up from a free kick. The ball was floated into the back post, and Chris Xiouri chested the ball up and scored with a volley 2-0.

Salamina stayed on top but Letchworth launched ball after ball at our defence. They got back into the match after a slip and the ball found their forward who looked offside but he slotted home for 2-1.
Salamina pressed on and Charlie Georgiou raced through The Letchworth defence with the keeper coming out he squared the ball to Richard Georgiou who as he was shooting was taken out from behind, surely a penalty, but the referee waved play on. The ball was cleared upfield and the Letchworth forward went down under challenge and the referee somehow awarded a penalty. Letchworth scores 2-2 with 4 minutes left.

Salamina pressed for another goal and again Charlie Georgiou one on one with the keeper was taken out, Penalty. However Salamina missed from the spot. The game ended 2-2.

Two points dropped but they remain unbeaten.
