Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop with flats above in Hainault Road, Leytonstone.

A small part of the ground floor was damaged by fire. The external part of the shop’s ventilation system also sustained some fire damage. Three people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1551 and the fire was under control at 1715. Fire crews from Leyton, Walthamstow, and Homerton fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
