Exports in June show decrease, whereas imports are up, compared to June last year.

According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus, on the basis of preliminary estimates for Foreign Trade of Cyprus in June 2018, total imports were €615,4 mn as compared to €554,4 mn in June 2017. Imports from other EU Member States in June 2018 were €399,8 mn as compared to €375,8 mn in June 2017. Imports from Third Countries in June 2018 were €215,6 mn as compared to €178,6 mn in June 2017.

Total exports in June 2018 were €358,7 mn as compared to €413,7 mn in June 2017. Exports to other EU Member States in June 2018 were €138,5 mn as compared to €95,0 mn in June 2017. Exports to Third Countries in June 2018 were €220,2 mn as compared to €318,6 mn in June 2017.

Total imports in June 2018 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €31,8 mn. as compared to €41,2 mn in June 2017. Total exports in June 2018 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €113,8 mn. as compared to €249,2 mn in June 2017.

Meanwhile, total imports (covering total imports from third countries and from EU Member States) in January-May 2018 amounted to €3.781,9 mn as compared to €3.244,2 mn in January-May 2017. Total exports (covering total exports to third countries and to EU Member States) in January-May 2018 were €2.070,3 mn compared to €1.081,9 mn in January-May 2017. The trade deficit was €1.711,6 mn in January-May 2018 compared to €2.162,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2017.

During May 2018 total imports (covering total imports from third countries and from EU Member States) valued at €829,1 mn as compared to €758,5 mn in May 2017.

Total exports (covering total exports to third countries and to EU Member States), including stores and provisions, in May 2018 amounted to €457,7 mn as compared to €270,4 mn in May 2017. Exports of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions in May 2018 were €152,3 mn as compared to €138,8 mn in May 2017 whilst exports of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, in May 2018 were €305,4 mn as compared to €131,6 mn in May 2017. Total domestic exports of industrial products in May 2018 were €138,3 mn compared to €121,5 mn in May 2017. Total domestic exports of agricultural products in May 2018 were €11,7 mn compared to €14,7 mn in May 2017.
