Following a crash on the M25 at Junction 24 for Potters Bar, 91 drivers will be receiving fines after driving through a lane that was closed for emergency use.

Beds, Herts and Cambs Road Policing tweeted that the drivers will be receiving a formal letter through the post after driving through a lane signified by a red ‘X’ as being closed.

The lane was closed so emergency services could attend a collision at around 3.48pm yesterday on the M25 anti-clockwise between Junction 23 and 24.

It saw a man in his 50s having to be rushed to hospital for further treatment.

The 91 drivers will receive a conditional offer meaning that they can accept guilt, pay the fine, take the points and the matter will be closed, or they can reject the offer in which case they would be summonsed to appear in court.
