Haringey’s website has been ranked one of the top local authority websites in the UK for a remarkable seventh year running – an achievement matched by just one other local authority in the country.

Better Connected 4 stars

The website earned a four-star rating, the highest available, from independent watchdog, The Society of IT Management (SOCITM).

The annual survey, carried out by SOCITM’s independent reviewers, examines the quality and performance of all local authority websites.

The survey is built around checking how easily residents can complete ‘top tasks’, with the highest marks going to councils who provide quick and simple customer journeys from search engine or home page through to resolution.

This year the reviewers focused on four specific tasks, and had this to say about Haringey’s approach:

Find services to help elderly relative stay in their own home:

  • “Very good – easy to browse through the pages, well presented with lots of useful links.”

Find out how to put out rubbish for collection:

  • “A good user journey. A-Z of recyclable materials comprehensive with very useful explanations of other alternatives.”

Apply for landlord licence:

  • “The explanation of mandatory and additional HMO licences was clearly written and it was relatively easy to navigate around the licensing pages.”

Find childcare:

  • “Good information provided and mobile friendly.”

More generally they also said that our search is “excellent”, our A-Z is “very good, and evidently well managed” and using our website on a mobile device is a “very positive experience”.

Haringey Council Leader, Cllr Joseph Ejiofor, said:

“The number of residents and local businesses using our website continues to grow. It’s the first point of contact with the council for a lot of people, so it’s crucial that we get it right.

“It’s great that SOCITM has awarded Haringey top marks for the seventh year running. It means we’re still putting residents first, despite having far fewer resources than we did seven years ago. We’ll continue to set ourselves high standards.”
