Detectives are appealing for witnesses to following a noxious substance attack and robbery in Enfield.

Police were called at approximately 02:00hrs on Saturday, 7 July, to reports of a suspected noxious substance attack and robbery on Bell Lane at the junction with Brimsdown Avenue, EN3.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended.

The victim, a 63-year-old man, was standing next to his car when he was approached by two males coming from the direction of Albany Park. The two men sprayed a noxious substance in his eyes.

The suspects then took the victim’s keys from him and drove off in his Silver Toyota car.

The victim was taken to an east London hospital where he remains with eye injuries that are believed at this time to be life-changing.

His next-of-kin are aware.

The car is described as a silver Toyota Avensis, registration BG58LZK.

Lead investigating officer DC James Rush from Enfield Major Crime Unit, said: “”This was a vicious robbery all the more appalling because of the brazen use of a strong chemical to rob the victim. I would ask for anyone who was in Albany Park or the surrounding area at the time of this incident to contact police.

“Even if you didn’t witness the incident itself but were in the area, you may have seen something that could prove vital to this investigation”.
