A total of 62 crews including the elite of the European Rally Championship (ERC), the Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) and local rally drivers will take part in the 2018 Cyprus Rally, round four of the FIA ERC and round two of the FIA MERC, to be held on 15-17 June in Larnaca.

According to a Cyprus Rally press release, the top names included this year Acropolis Rally winner, Portugal’s Bruno Magalhaes, the five times Cyprus Rally winner, Qatar’s Nasse al Attiyah, and 2016 Cyprus Rally winner, Alexey Lukyanuk.

These drivers will face stiff competition from another group or flying drivers such as Czech Antonin Tlustak, Hungary’s Nober Herczig, Poland’s Hubert Ptaszek, Finland’s Jusso Nordgren and Gemany’s Albert Von Thurn Und Taxis.

A total of ten Cypriot crews will take part both in the ERC points and the local championship. Among them Simos Galatariotis and Antonis Ioannou on board a Skoda Fabia R5 who finished fourth overall in the Rally Acropolis, round three of the FIA ERC, as well as the talented Alexandros Tsouloftas driving a Citroen DS3R5 who retired from the Acropolis Rally while holding the fourth place overall.

The crews will be called on to race for 204.9 kilometres of the ERC’s most challenging stages north and west of Larnaca.
The rally will start on Friday 18:30 local time in the Finikoudes beach front while racing actin begins on Saturday.
