After his release from Ipswich Town at the end of April, Frenchman & former Rennes and Dijon player Kévin Bru has successfully found a new club. The  midfielder will be swapping England for Cyprus, joining first division side Apollon Limassol on a free.

During his time in Ipswich from 2014 to 2018 Bru made a total of 103 appearances, scoring 4 goals across all competitions. Bru slowly fell out of former manager Mick McCarthy’s favour, and this past year accentuated the centre midfielder’s standing in England. The Mauritian international found himself on the transfer list for the whole of last season, and the 10 appearances he did make came about largely due to injuries suffered by other midfielders.

Despite an imperfect ending to his stint in England, there is plenty to be excited about for Bru. His new club, Apollon FC, finished second last season meaning that Europa League qualification is on the table.

Moving to Cyprus might be a bit easier for Bru, a player who has never shied away from testing himself in other nations. Outside of France and England, he has also played in Bulgaria, turning out for Levski Sofia. If the centre midfielder can return to form and find his feet quickly in his new home, then he could have a big part to play in his new club’s qualifying rounds at the start of next season.
