Members of the House of Representatives, Irene Charalambidou and Kyriakos Hadzigiannis, depart for Turkey on Thursday to take part in an election observation mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE (OSCE PA) for Turkey’s elections, to be held on Sunday.

Around 65 members of Parliament from 25 OSCE countries will be deployed in Ankara, Constantinople, Smyrne, Diyarbakir and other areas.

The MPs will observe these elections for their compliance with OSCE commitments and other international standards for democratic elections, as well as with domestic legislation. Observers will follow candidate registration, campaign activities, the work of the election administration and relevant state bodies, implementation of the legislative framework, and the resolution of election disputes.

As part of the observation, the EOM will conduct a comprehensive monitoring of the media.

The Cypriot members of the House will be in Constantinople on the day of the elections and will visit election centres to monitor the procedure.
