The hotbeds of war and the imperialist interventions in recent years have increased to the extent that the continued state of war is the norm for a large part of the world. The wider Middle East region in particular is suffering from the ongoing foreign interventions and continuing internal war conflicts. Cyprus itself also a victim of imperialist interventions and just a breath away from this region on fire, is duty bound to express its firm commitment to the cause for peace to prevail.

The Cyprus Peace Council (CPC) is organizing a Pancyprian Peace March on Sunday 10th June 2018, in the region of the Akrotiri British base, under the slogan “We march on the path of Peace”. Marchers will gather on the Kolossi-Akrotiri road (Assamatos junction) at 10:00 am and subsequently set off.

Through the 8th Pancyprian Peace March organized by the CPC, our opposition to wars and the demand for an end to the slaughter being committed against the neighboring peoples of our region will be expressed. Personalities from the field of culture, but also political figures – friends of Cyprus from abroad – will also honor the March with their presence. Representatives from the World Peace Council and the Peace Movements of Syria, Palestine, Israel, Britain, Turkey, Greece, Portugal and Spain will also march together with the Cypriot campaigners for peace.

AKEL calls on the Cypriot people, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians and Latins, as well as organized groups and movements who care about the cause of world peace, to participate in a mass way in the Peace March being organized by the CPC. Let the 8th Pancyprian Peace March send out a powerful message of Peace and Justice to Cyprus and the world.
