The Cypriot team returned from ISF World Schools Games Gymnasiade with four medals, two gold, one silver and one bronze, new national records and other distinctions.

In a press release the Ministry of Education and Culture says that once more Cyprus achieved great success at the 2018 World Schools Games Gymnasiade in Casablanca, Morocco, the world`s largest school event which is held every two years.

Cyprus was represented by 31 athletes who competed in Athletics, Swimming, Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics.  In Athletics Cyprus participated with 19 athletes, of which 16 managed to secure a place in the finals, two of which won medals. Grigoris Nikolaou, won the silver medal in the triple jump and Andreas Kazamias, the bronze medal in high jump.

In swimming, Cyprus participated with five athletes, four of which ranked between the first eight, while Kalia Antoniou won the two gold medals of Cyprus team.

In Artistic Gymnastics, Cyprus participated with four athletes, managing to win the 5th and 6th place, while in Rhythmic Gymnastics, Cyprus participated with three athletes and secured the 5th place.

Minister of Education Kostas Chambiarouris congratulated all the students, coaches, and escorts of the Cypriot team for their excellent presence in the Games.
