Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam footage, to come forward in connection with a traffic collision in Forest Road, Walthamstow, E17, that has left a male with life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred at approximately 01:06hrs on Saturday, 12 May.

Officers attended, along with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

A light coloured BMW was in collision with a cyclist and a number of parked vehicles on Holmes Avenue junction with Forest Road, E17.

Just prior to the collision the car failed to stop for an unmarked police vehicle.

The cyclist – a 28-year-old man – has been taken to a London hospital and is in a critical condition. His next of kin are in the process of being informed.

The driver of the car made off on foot and enquiries are ongoing to trace him.

There are no reports of other injured parties.

The Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) has been informed as is routine.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct have also been informed and launched an independent investigation this morning.

The Serious Collision investigation Unit is carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the collision.
