Cypriot Olympic sailing medallist Pavlos Kontides has kicked off to a good start at the 2017-2018 season of the World Sailing Cup, taking place in Hyeres, France.

According to a press release, with a second and fifth place in the two first races, 28-year-old Kontides is ranking second with seven penalty points, five more than Croatian sailor Tonci Stipanovic, who won both races.

Kontides said he “felt good” during the races and that he needed to rest and prepare for the next races.

Over 830 sailors from 46 countries are competing in the Hyeres World Cup, in ten Olympic sailing disciplines.
