ENI is determined to fulfill its obligations vis-à-vis the Republic of Cyprus, in accordance with the contracts signed for a total of six blocks in the country’s exclusive economic zone. This was ascertained during a meeting in Rome between the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides and the Executive Vice President of ENI, Lapo Pistelli.

According to a Foreign Ministry announcement, today’s meeting was held on the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA) and the conference in support of the Lebanese security forces, in the Italian capital.

It is added that at the meeting with the ENI official, they evaluated company relations with the Republic of Cyprus, in light of Turkish provocations in the maritime area of Cyprus and overall energy developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

According to the announcement, the two sides share the view that the Eastern Mediterranean is of vital importance when it comes to the supply of hydrocarbons in the region and in Europe. In this context they discussed Cyprus’ potential key role in designing and implementing future synergies in the hydrocarbons’ sector, the announcement concludes.
