A government isn’t judged by its persons but by its policies
Persons don’t change the political philosophy that guide the Anastasiades-DISY administration

The composition of the new Ministerial Council by Mr. Anastasiades does not surprise us not one bit. We had no doubt that Mr. Anastasiades’ pre-election rhetoric about a government of “broad acceptance” would result in the formation of a DISY party government.
Neither do the slogans about a government of “broad social consensus” convince anyone.

A government is not judged by personalities; it is judged by its policies. Persons do not change the political philosophy that guide the Anastasiades-DISY administration. It is this philosophy that has dramatically increased social inequality, given a lot to the privileged few and very little to the majority of the people; a philosophy that was denounced for the phenomena of interwoven interests and corruption and unprecedented clashes with various institutions.

Each Minister will be judged by how he/she acts. As AKEL, it goes without saying that we disagree with the philosophy of the Anastasiades-DISY Government.

As a consequence, our criticism will be strict, but objective. Wherever and whenever we consider that something serves the interests of the country and the people we will make a constructive contribution to its implementation. If not, we will exercise our role as the powerful force of the opposition.
