Enfield Highway Library has officially reopened to the public
– The library will now be housed on the first floor of the Enfield Business Centre
– An active user panel is working in partnership with the Council on how the library is used for the benefit of the community

Enfield Highway Library has officially reopened in its new location with an active user group helping to mould its place in the community.

The library is a flexible, civic space with the local community involved in how it can be best utilised in partnership with the Council.

The full community library offering is in its new home – a variety of books are ready for borrowing; faster, higher-quality and higher-resolution PCs have been installed; the number of scanners has been doubled from before; and users have full access to the London Libraries Consortium with a shared catalogue of six million items.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services, Libraries & Protection, Cllr Ayfer Orhan, said: “I am very proud the new Enfield Highway Library has opened its doors to the public. Our aim was to provide an accessible and cost-effective facility to meet the needs of residents but what I am most excited about is the fantastic support we have received from the local community.

“The active user panel has already had some amazing ideas about raising the profile of the library so it can meet its full potential. The panel, along with staff and volunteers will be working together so it will become an indispensable feature for the community.

“This is another example of how Enfield Council has been able to meet the changing needs of residents and businesses which in turn will help create an even stronger community and contribute to the area’s growth and sustainability.”

This reopening follows the launch of the new and improved Edmonton Green Library in October. Enfield now has four hub libraries at Edmonton Green, Ordnance Unity Centre, Palmers Green and Enfield Town. To find out about a library near you, please go to www.enfield.gov.uk/libraries.
