The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the Council of Europe Ambassador Spyros Attas met on November 10th with the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini Dragoni to whom he deposited on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.

A press release issued by the Foreign Ministry said that Cyprus is the 27th Member State ratifying the Convention and the instrument of ratification was submitted only days before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25th November) emphasizing the importance that Cyprus gives to the elimination of such unacceptable phenomena.
