Young people are invited to meet employers and take part in master classes from Caffe Nero and Jobwise Training at a free event at Emirates Stadium on 17 October.

Aspire 2017 is a ‘speed networking’ event that gives 16-24 year olds from Islington that are not in education, employment or training, the opportunity to meet employers looking to fill live vacancies.

Young people can network with local businesses and be interviewed for jobs on the day as well as finding out about apprenticeship schemes.

The event, run by Islington Council, is at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, 17 October from 12.00pm-4.00pm. Young people interested in attending can register for the event at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/aspire-october-2017-tickets-37483419918.

Supporting young people into work is one of Islington Council’s key priorities. Following the findings of the Employment Commission in 2014, the council is actively seeking to broker introductions and relationships with employers. Aspire events introduce young people to a range of careers available to them, whilst introducing local employers to the talent of Islington’s young people.

Over 30 local businesses including Nando’s and Hilton will be at the Emirates, giving young people an insight into a huge range of different careers.

They can also receive expert advice on creating a stand-out CV and get help with completing application forms.

Cllr Asima Shaikh, Islington Council’s executive member for economic development, said: “The council is committed to helping Islington’s young people into work. Aspire 2017 is a fantastic opportunity for 16-24 year olds to find out about the range of opportunities available to them, whilst building their skills and confidence when applying for jobs.

“We look forward to welcoming Islington’s young people and helping them to build skills and find out more about taking the next step in their careers.”
