The Cypriot community of Birmingham is unique and its warmth and hospitality unequalled. The community came together on Tuesday 12 September 2017 in order to raise funds for Alkionides UK.

We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Joe Koumi who have opened their house on many occasions to selflessly raise money for those in real need. Our volunteers, under the leadership of Mrs Liliana Malla, Mrs Fotoulla Lytra and Mrs Helen Vasiliou, worked hard to organise a perfect tea party with a difference!

We thank the ESTIA for their invaluable help and Mr Doros Partasides and RIK, who always support the work of the Charity.

Alkionides UK provides free accommodation and support to low-income Cypriot patients and their families. This month 19-year-old Apostolia underwent a liver operation at Royal Free after waiting for five months. Twelve-year-old Ioannis, who lost his leg to osteosarcoma last year, returned for a prosthesis adjustment and Stephania, who as a baby instigated the foundation of Alkionides Charity in 1998, is back for another heart operation.
