“In conclusion, occupying power Turkey does not exist in the picture of responsibilities for the international community, and is proceeding unhindered to moves to consolidate partition.”

Mr. Anastasiades and his government must at long last acknowledge the reality: the United Nations do not unfortunately point the finger at Turkey as being responsible for the negative development in Switzerland. However, its not only that. The UN do not apportion any responsibility whatsoever on Turkey, not even for the day after of the negotiation procedure. The International Organization apportions this responsibility on the two Cypriot sides. Speaking of responsibilities, we point out that neither has the European Union taken a stand.

In conclusion, occupying power Turkey does not exist in the picture of responsibilities for the international community, and is proceeding unhindered to moves to consolidate partition.

Mr. Anastasiades and the government, instead of working towards creating the preconditions for the continuation of the procedure, limit themselves to a game of impressions. At the same time, they admit that they do not have a plan to address the dangers to the future of our homeland and people. They say they are “studying” and “reflecting”, but to date no specific proposal or idea whatsoever has been submitted to the political forces or the people. No plan exists on how to prevent the consolidation of the partition and how we will arrive at a solution that will liberate and reunite our homeland.

The regressions and contradictions in Mr. Anastasiades’ policy all through this period have harmed the credibility of the Greek Cypriot side and allowed Turkey to play communication and political games without the international community apportioning any responsibility whatsoever on it.
