PC Donna Blackwood, attached to Southwark Borough, was dismissed following a three-day misconduct hearing which ended on Wednesday, 5 July.

The hearing found that the officer had a case to answer in respect of the standards of professional behaviour in relation to ‘discreditable conduct’ and ‘fitness for duty’.

It was alleged that on Monday, 16 November 2015 and whilst on-duty, PC Blackwood tested positive for cannabis following a ‘with cause’ substance misuse test.

The panel found the allegations proven and that PC Blackwood had breached the Met’s standards of professional behaviour in such a serious way that this amounted to gross misconduct.

The panel determined that the only appropriate sanction was dismissal without notice.
