Katerina Gavrielidou from Cyprus is officially one of the nominees for the UN Youth Envoy post in the United Nations. The nomination concerns the Secretary-General of the United Nations’ Envoy on Youth, who is responsible for advising and representing the Secretary-General of the United Nations for any matters associated with youth.

Katerina is widely supported and acknowledged by numerous youth organizations from all around the world like Europe, Asia, Cyprus, America, and the Middle East. While, she also manages to uphold excellent contacts and collaborations with many young people worldwide.

The young candidate has been noted a number of times; operating in this field since 2012, dealing with different subjects associated with youth and young people in Europe, Cyprus and generally all around the world. In fact, despite her young age she has taken part in International and European youth conferences while representing young people of Europe and Cyprus.

Moreover, she is also active in contributing to several research studies linked to young people and youth organizations.

Holding the title of Global Shaper, as the World Economic Forum has named her, she was recently elected as an Honorary Member of the Greek Organization of Political Scientists. Whilst in 2015 she was elected to be part of the advisory body of the UN Habitat representing European youth.

As an act of inspiring young people of Cyprus, in October 2016, Katerina has created “The European Cyprus Society”, a youth organization having as aim the support of young people, attempting to increase their involvement in issues that concern them.

Katerina Gavrielidou has graduated from the University of Lancaster where she studied Business Studies, after moving on to undertake her master studies at the London School of Economics (LSE) on European politics. Furthermore, she has attended several courses at recognized universities such as Oxford and Cambridge.

It is important to mention that in June 2016, Katerina Gavrielidou has been presented with the Queen’s Young Leaders Award by Queen Elizabeth for her important involvement and overall her role in the youth of Cyprus as well as worldwide.
