We understand the difficulty the President of DIKO President Mr. Nicolas Papadopoulos has to answer how he will reconcile completely opposite positions on the substantive issues of the Cyprus problem between DIKO, EDEK and “Solidarity”.

Mr. Papadopoulos’ tactic of distorting and lying about AKEL’s positions cannot conceal the different positions between the three parties on the Cyprus problem; different not on minor secondary issues, but on the sought goal itself.

Furthermore, Mr. Nicolas Papadopoulos’ tactics of distortion and lies cannot conceal the non-existence of a realistic proposal that should of course be based on principles for a solution that will liberate and reunite Cyprus and our people.

Citizens want to know, besides negativity and rejection, has Mr. Papadopoulos anything concrete to propose other than grandiose slogans and empty statements devoid of content? The fate of Cyprus and our people is too important to be left at the mercy of policies and slogans that have been tested in the past and that do not lead nowhere other than to new fait accompli and the perpetuation of the Turkish occupation and de facto partition.

The people know that AKEL with consistency and patriotism supports the solution of the Cyprus problem within the agreed framework and the long-standing principles of the Greek Cypriot side. No aphorisms and no insults whatsoever by Mr. Nicolas Papadopoulos can damage AKEL’s proven consistency and patriotism.
