Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris Postasi newspaper (04.02.17) reported that Morfou was not included in the map submitted by the Turkish Cypriot side at the Geneva talks and noted that Morfou is a big obstacle for the successful outcome of the Cyprus negotiation.

Citing high level sources, the paper wrote that at the map submitted by the Turkish Cypriot side, according to which the Turkish Cypriot founding state will consist of 29,2%, Morfou is not included. At the same time Morfou as well as some villages of the Karpassia area are included in the map submitted by the Greek Cypriot side which provides that the Turkish Cypriot founding state will consist of 28,2%. The paper wrote that many investments were made in Morfou after the 2004 Anan Plan and added that the area is a red line issue for the Greek Cypriot side.
