Plans to build more than 250 new homes – including 200 affordable properties – across the borough have been approved by Haringey Council.

A total of 260 new homes will be built across three developments:

  • Keston Rd, Tottenham. Developer Pocket Living will create a new nursery and community centre as well as 126 residential properties made up of 16 three bedroom  homes and 110 one and two bedroom homes (98 of these will be affordable.) Pocket Living specifically provides affordable homes aimed at first time buyers, with prices guaranteed to be 20% cheaper than similar properties in the area.
  • Monument Way, Tottenham Hale. Newlon Housing Trust will build 54 new homes (12 one bedroom, 24 two bed and 18 three bed properties), all of which will all be available at affordable rent.
  • Coppetts Wood Hospital site, Muswell Hill. Catalyst Housing will build 80 new homes (69 apartments and 11 houses), of which more than half will be affordable with 18 properties available for affordable rent and 25 for shared ownership.

Cllr Alan Strickland, Cabinet Member for Housing, Regeneration and Planning said:

Residents tell us they want to see more affordable housing in the borough, and securing planning permission for these developments is a big step forward in our ambitions to deliver more homes for local people to buy and rent.  We look forward to working with the developers to get these properties built as soon as possible.

Earlier this month Haringey welcomed tenants into the first new council homes built in the borough for at least 30 years. Residents have moved into four new properties in Barnes Court, Wood Green, the first of 31 new homes being built on former garage and car park sites in seven housing development sites across the borough.
