As regards the proposal submitted by the Democratic Rally DISY party, there is a big contradiction. DISY itself states that its proposal has nothing whatsoever to do with the decision approved by the majority of the House of Representatives. At the same time, it is obvious that DISY is in no hurry to discuss this proposal. As far as AKEL is concerned, many questions are therefore raised as to what is the expediency that led DISY to submit the specific proposal.
Concerning the current situation as this has evolved. I want to address a cry of anguish to both of the two leaders. I conclude that both of them have embarked on a blame game campaign. The only ones who are cheering them on in their effort, in this campaign they have started, are precisely those forces that do not want a solution to the Cyprus problem. Therefore, if they are really sincere in what they are saying that they want a solution to the Cyprus problem, a solution that is based on the agreed principles, they have an obligation to end this mutual blame game campaign and work out ways to resume the negotiations. We as AKEL have submitted publicly, but also privately, a concrete proposal to both of them on how, in our opinion, they should proceed.
I would like to say one last thing to various circles and forces who are accusing AKEL from extremist, in my opinion, positions.
