Victoria Embankment has now reopened after police and the Royal Navy worked together to remove a suspected WWII bomb.

Police were called to the River Thames in Victoria Embankment at 17:15hrs on Thursday, 19 January to reports of a suspected WWII ordnance.

Westminster tube station was evacuated and Waterloo and Westminster bridges were closed for several hours.

Specialist officers attended and assessed the device.

Temporary road and bridge closures were put in place.

The Royal Navy have now successfully removed the ordnance and will dispose of it.
