Officers in Haringey swooped on street hotspot drug dealing in the borough in a targeted pro-active operation on the evening of Friday, 2 December.

Operation Hayle saw uniformed and plain clothed officers – supported by British Transport Police – target drug dealers operating in the Finsbury Park and Turnpike Lane areas.

In Finsbury Park, an 18-year-old man was found with 20 self-sealed bags of suspected cannabis. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs as he tried to flee.

Two other men, aged 19 and 26, were arrested for drugs offences in Wood Green High Road, N22. All three have been taken to a north London police station where they remain in custody.

Sergeant Bruce Howell from Haringey police said: “Drug dealing has no place in our communities. It attracts anti-social behaviour and blights neighbourhoods. I’m pleased that those brazen enough to use and sell drugs in public have been arrested.

“Operation Hayle is an ongoing operation which will relentlessly target those peddling drugs on our streets
