Congratulations to songwriters-producers Michael and Anthony Hannides who both scooped a Global Impact Award at the ASCAP Awards last Thursday (10 November) for co-writing and producing the smash international #1 hit Pillowtalk by Zayn Malik.

You may remember the duo, who operate under the moniker Make You Know Love (aka MYKL), from the boy-band 4-Tune who had a great run on the UK’s X Factor competition.

Pillowtalk was co-written by former One Direction member Zayn together with the Hannides brothers and Joe Garrett. It featured on the singer’s debut solo album Mind of Mine, released earlier this year.

Pillowtalk debuted at #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, making Zayn the third UK act in history to gain that honour.

The ASCAP Awards, which took place at London’s One Embankment, honoured iconic British group Duran Duran with the prestigious Golden Note Award. The event also recognised artists Jess Glynne and MNEK with the Vanguard Award, songwriters Amy Wadge for her collaboration with Ed Sheeran on Thinking Out Loud (song of the year, top digital song) and James Newman for his Calvin Harris collaboration Blame (top EDM song).

In addition, Sir Paul McCartney’s Fourfiveseconds and Ella Henderson’s Ghost were both recognised in the ASCAP Hot 100 Winning Songs.

Ella is another artist the MYKL boys have collaborated with, having penned a song for her upcoming album. The follow-up to Chapter One will be released in 2017 via Simon Cowell’s Sony imprint Syco Music.

Michael and Anthony also co-wrote and produced Craig David’s Louder Than Words, taken from the artist’s latest studio collection, Following My Intuition, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.

We wish the boys well in all they do and to continue their fine journey in the music industry!
