Islington Council is reminding at-risk residents that they can get their flu jab for free from their GP and local pharmacies.
The flu vaccine is offered free of charge on the NHS to people who are at risk, including all those over the age of 65 and those under 65 with certain long term health conditions, such as heart disease or respiratory disease.
This is to ensure they are protected against catching flu and potentially developing serious complications.
Cllr Burgess was pictured this week getting her flu jab from Clan Pharmacy on Upper Street.
She said: “Flu is a highly infectious disease and can be serious for groups such as those over 65 and pregnant women who are both more susceptible. If you have an existing condition the flu can make it worse, even if it is well managed.”
“I recommend anyone in an at-risk group to make the most of the free vaccinations available across the borough.”
