APOEL succumbed to AEL on Saturday registering it first defeat in this season’s championships.

Limassol’s AEL took the lead in the 86th minute with a penalty by Mikel Arruabarrena, a result which wouldn’t change, keeping manager Bambos Christodoulou’s team chances of qualifying alive.

Although the game at the Tsirion Stadium in Limassol started off with APOEL looking extremely dangerous, their performance waned during the second half, while AEL’s mobility paid off, bringing the final score to 1-0.
