Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for witnesses and information following a collision in North Finchley that left a moped rider critically injured.

 

Police were called at around 17:50hrs on Thursday, 17 November to Buxted Road at the junction with Ashurst Road, N12, following reports of a car and a moped in collision.

 

Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

 

The rider, an 18-year-old man, was taken to a north London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

 

The driver and occupants of a black Nissan Pixo abandoned the car and left the scene of the collision on foot on Ashurst Road into Woodhouse Lane.

 

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the occupants of the black Nissan leaving the scene.

On Thursday, 17 November, a 22-year-old man attended a north London police station at approximately 23:00hrs. He was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving with no licence, no insurance and failing to stop at the scene of a collision and has been bailed to date in January pending further enquiries.
