AKEL denounces the new incident of an attack against a Turkish Cypriot which occurred yesterday in Ayios Dometios. AKEL urges the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus not to show any tolerance whatsoever to such phenomena which are extremely damaging for the relations between the two communities.

Although the motives of the perpetrators of the attack have not been confirmed, we believe that such phenomena are not characteristic of the majority of society. The voices of thousands of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in support of peace and reunification during last night’s gathering in the buffer zone, send out the strongest response to these behaviors.
