US Senator Robert Menendez, expressed his support to the efforts of President Anastasiades to solve the Cyprus problem and stressed that on his part he will help in every possible way through the US Senate, to achieve the solution.

According to an official announcement, during his meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, Menendez showed great interest in the developments concerning the Cyprus issue and congratulated President Anastasiades for his tireless efforts aimed at resolving the problem.

During the meeting, the President briefed Menendez about the current situation of the talks for a solution of the Cyprus problem and the course of negotiations. Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN led talks resumed in May 2015 aiming to reunify the island under a federal roof.

The Senator also visited the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics a bi-communal, non-profit, private, academic, medical center.

According to a press release of the Institute, Senator Menendez, toured the premises and laboratories of the Institute and in statements highlighted the excellent work done at the Institute, that contributes to the improvement of the quality of life for all Cypriots.
