Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a maisonette in Bowes Road, Southgate last night.

Part of the maisonette of the first floor and part of the maisonette on the ground floor were damaged by fire.

A man left the first floor maisonette before the arrival of the Brigade. Firefighters led two adults and four children from a neighbouring property.

The Brigade was called at 2203 and the fire was under control at 0013. Fire crews from Southgate, Finchley and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
