A mother and daughter aged 61 and 26, from Russia, were arrested on Sunday night at Larnaca airport when they refused to undergo a security check. They then reportedly attacked the on duty police officer and resisted arrest.

 

According to the police at around 8pm during the baggage control check the woman and her daughter, who were due to fly out of Cyprus, started to shout and cause a commotion.

 

The police officers on duty tried to explain to the women that the baggage check was applied to all for matters of security but they attacked the officer, with the result they were arrested.

 

During the course of the arrest the two Russian women resisted. They were arrested for attacking a police officer during the course of his duties, causing a commotion and resisting arrest.

 

The two women are expected to be taken to Larnaca District Court on Monday morning to have a remand order issued against them.
