Marcos is set to open his campaign at the Swiss Indoors in Basel on today Tuesday against fifth seed David Goffin. They will conclude the night session as the last match on Centre Court.

Making his seventh trip to Basel, Marcos enjoyed his best result in 2005 when he reached the final. It was the first final of his career on the ATP World Tour.

On Tuesday, Marcos faces a familiar opponent in Goffin. He owns a 4-1 head-to-head edge, having won their lone meeting in 2016 at the indoor event in Rotterdam. Victory would see Marcos face either wild card Juan Martin del Potro or qualifier Robin Haase. Third seed Kei Nishikori is a potential quarter-final opponent, with second seed Milos Raonic looming in the semis.

In doubles, Marcos and Gilles Muller fell to David Marrero and Marcin Matkowski 7-5, 6-7(6), 10-1.
