1. Ryman Division One North

Rarely have Borough had to overcome such consistent adversity but in doing so they secured their hardest earned  and most deserved point of the season.     After a fairly even opening period perhaps shaded by the visitors Nana Asamoah thundered in a shot which beat the ‘keeper all ends up only for him to be saved by the inside of the post against which it crashed and inexplicably flew back into play instead of into the opposite corner as might have been its expected trajectory.  In the 35th minute Borough were reduced to 10 men although opinion was divided as to whether a yellow card would have been a sufficient  response to Adrian Markus’s tackle.   And many also thought the 62nd minute penalty by which Witham took the lead was on the soft side.   But Borough battled on and only four minutes later Aaron Scott sent a thumping header into the net when he met a corner from the right at the far post.     But the lead swung back in Witham’s favour when their tall stopper came up to meet a corner and scored an almost identical goal, again a header at the far post.       But Borough refused to give up and another corner in the 88th minute enabled them to snatch a point as Rakim Richards smashed the ball home from close range although again many thought it was really Ralston Gabriel who scored as his header  appeared hit the back stanchion and rebound into play.     But the referee afterwards indicated that he was not among  them so it was fortunate that Richards pounced to make sure.    Borough’s luck remained out right to the end for in stoppage time Asamoah burst through in a one-on-one and although the ‘keeper made a fine save it appeared that Asamoah was impeded in his attempt to reach the loose ball but again that was an opinion not shared by the referee.
