AEK Larnaca continued their impressive 100% record on Sunday after beating Nea Salamina 1-0 while Omonia boss John Carver came under increasing pressure after his side lost 2-1 at Apollon Limassol.

Imanol Idiakiz’s side continue to lead the title race after winning all six of their opening domestic games and only conceding one in the process. Acoran – who started in place of the injured Ivan Trickovski – scored the only goal of the game against a resilient Nea Salamina side who missed the chance to level several times.

Apollon, meanwhile, returned to winning ways after two consecutive defeats after goals from Abraham Gneki Guie and Alex secured a 2-1 win over an Omonia side – who were left fuming by some of the refereeing decisions. Fanis Katelaris had pulled a goal back for Omonia in the second half while Matt Derbyshire, Demetris Konstantinidis and Cillian Sheridan also passed up great opportunities.

The defeat handed some breathing space to under fire Apollon boss Pedro Emanuel while Omonia coach Carver has once again seen his side drop points.

APOEL – still hung over after their big Europa League win away to Olympiacos on Thursday – continued the defence of their league title with a 2-0 win over Doxa Katokopia following goals from George Efrem and Giannis Gianniotas.

Karmiotisssa picked up their first win in the top division after thrashing Ermis Aradippou 3-0 with goals from Elias Vattis, Marko Adamovic and Yiannis Taralides.

On Saturday, AEL slipped further away from the top after drawing 0-0 at Anorthosis Famagusta.
