Police are appealing for assistance in tracing a man they wish to speak to in connection with the importation of large quantities of cannabis to the United Kingdom.

He is Manuel Basilio Alho Vieira, 44, (21.03.72), a Portuguese national, last known to have been living in the Arnos Grove and Palmers Green areas of north London in January 2016. He also has connections with Forest Hill.

On 1 December and 3 December 2015, the UK Border Agency intercepted two parcels of herbal cannabis at Heathrow Airport.

Subsequent enquiries by officers from the Met’s Crime Squad at Lewisham led to the arrest of a man in Forest Hill on 3 December 2015. He was arrested at the delivery address for the two parcels. This 41-year-old man was found guilty at the Old Bailey in April 2016 of conspiracy to import Class B drugs.

Detectives now wish to speak with Manuel Basilio Alho Vieira in connection with the importation of the drugs.

They are appealing for the public’s assistance in tracing him, and have released images including CCTV stills of Alho Vieira at a bank in Palmers Green in January 2016.

Anyone who may know his whereabouts is asked to call detectives from Lewisham Crime Squad via 101. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
